Price changes coming
Since we began twelve years ago, we have prided ourselves on delivering the best quality farmstead cheese. As we come out of a tumultuous three years, we have decided that our prices must finally increase. This marks the first time that we have ever increased our prices. Read on to see where this money is going.
We have made strides in recent months to offer more benefits and better wages to our small team. We started offering a childcare stipend and a matching 401k plan for all employees regardless of position or tenure. In keeping with our mission of building community through cheese, the increased price of our chèvre will ripple out in our community as we offer these benefits.
In addition to the employee benefits are the realities of supply costs. Cost of cups, boxes, energy, water, shipping and ingredients has all gone up and cut into our margins. Due to the shutdown of restaurants in 2020, we took out loans that will eventually come due in 2023.
Starting on August 29th, orders made on or after this date will show an increase in prices on our chèvre for retail and bulk containers. Please contact us at info@portlandcreamery.com if you have any questions.
